This little mayor held this exact pose for a full minute after I took this photo, and — still maintaining both the pose and eye contact with me — scampered off by moving only his paws and wrists, on tippy-toes. A tinkly little toy-piano sound somehow accompanied this movement, coming from everywhere and nowhere at once. Okay, that didn’t actually happen, but now you can picture what I wanted to have happened. (dog 559)
